Hon. Pius Nwankwo, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ebonyi State Governor on Sports, has been appointed as the new Coordinator for Ebonyi State by the Grassroots Sports Federation of Nigeria, effective immediately.
The Federation praised Nwankwo’s commitment and expertise in sports development at the grassroots level. His three-year tenure will focus on organizing local sporting events, leagues, and scouting tournaments aimed at fostering talent across Ebonyi State.
His key responsibilities include advancing gender inclusivity, boosting youth development initiatives, and promoting peace through sports. Additionally, Nwankwo will act as the liaison between the national federation and Ebonyi State’s sports office to ensure effective coordination.
In an official letter, the National President Hon. Bassey Ekepeyong congratulated Nwankwo and encouraged him to take grassroots sports in Ebonyi to new heights.
This strategic appointment is anticipated to enhance community engagement and nurture grassroots sports in Ebonyi State.
