Rangers International of Enugu emerged champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Youth League zonal tournament, which also served as qualifier for the national finals in Benin. The Flying Antelopes were in blistering form as they finished with seven points, thereby picking the sole ticket from the South East zone.

Basil Obeta’s boys beat Heartland FC 1-0 in the first game, smashed Enyimba 3-0 in the second game before a goalless draw with Abia Warriors in their final group game.

Since their triumph in Enugu, the team have intensified training under the watchful eyes of their coach, Basil Obeta.

Player to Watch: Chimaobi Igwilo

Chimaobi Igwilo, the captain of the side emerged as the Most Valuable Player in the South East zonal playoffs. He scored all goals for Rangers; four of them which included a hat-trick against Enyimba FC.
