Abia Warriors Board member and business tycoon, Mr Francis Chilaka, popularly known as Owo Texas, has commended the Under-17 and the Under-19 teams of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia for qualifying for the Nationwide League One Division Two (NLO 2).
The two cadet teams of Abia Warriors secured the ticket to campaign in the NLO 2, the fourth-tier club football in Nigeria, after hard-fought victories in their last games at the just concluded 2024/2025 Abia State Football League Super Six playoff in Umuahia.
The Abia Warriors Under-19 team defeated Miracle Football Club of Umunneochi 2-1, while the Under-17 team piped Bohold Football Club also of Umunneochi by a lone goal to make the ascension.
Mr. Chilaka showered encomiums on the teams even as he charged them to be among the best in the NLO 2 division and not settle for less..
He also noted that Abia Warriors Football Club is one of the few Premier League sides with active youth teams including the U-15, U-17 and -19, a development he said, has placed the club amongst the best in Nigeria and commended the Chairman, Coach John Sam Obuh for his unwavering interest in youth football.
Mr. Chilaka, who is the sponsor of Abia Warriors’ prestigious “Player Of The Month” and “Man Of The Match” awards, has pledged to sustain the gesture even as the new season draws near.
