The Edo State Football Association has recognized Hajji Olawale Gafar Liameed, the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, for his significant contributions to the successful organization of the Edo Select Showcase 2026 – U18 Invitational Tournament.
The Award of Respect and Recognition was bestowed on behalf of the Edo FA Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, in gratitude for Alhaji Lameed’s involvement, participation, and dedication to youth development during the three-day talent identification event.
Hajji Gafar was also awarded a Certificate of Participation by the Edo State Football Association.
In his remarks, Hajji Gafar expressed his gratitude to the Edo FA, under the leadership of Chairman Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, for the warm welcome and praised the association’s initiatives in promoting and developing football in Edo State.
He extended special recognition to Mr. Alexander Okokobioko, the Founder of the Grassroots Football Developmental League, who he referred to as his mentor, a visionary, and a close friend.
The LSFA Chairman further commended the initiative for establishing a reliable platform to identify, nurture, and provide opportunities for talented young players beyond Edo State.
The successful execution of the Edo Select Showcase 2026 highlights the dedication of the Edo FA and its stakeholders to creating clear pathways for young talents to advance beyond grassroots football.
