Enyimba Chairman, FIFA Amb. Kanu Nwankwo has lifted the spirits of the team after reassuring them of his support ahead of the tie against Doma United on Saturday and throughout the season.

The Chairman spoke to the players after an intensive final training session on Tuesday at the Enyimba Stadium.

He praised them for their performance in Minna and expressed optimism that the team will get good result in Gombe.

“I’ve watched the friendly games and I noticed that you are united; you attack and defend as a unit.

“Everyone of us is behind you. We are doing so because we performed well. If we did not, we will get negative reports. It depends on you to prove them wrong,” he said.

Kanu remarked that there are comments by gossips against the team and challenged them to rise to the occasion, to prove that they worth their inclusion in the team, assuring them that they will get whatever is due them.

“This is a challenge to all of you. Don’t look at people’s comments and faces. People here are also talking that we don’t have a team. They said our fine performance in the friendly games is a fluke. That is a challenge for you.

“I am here to encourage you and to tell you that we are behind you no matter what people are saying outside.

“I will do whatever I can to make sure you are happy, focused and to deliver,” he promised.

Speaking on behalf of the players, Stanley Dimgba thanked the Chairman and said it is always a morale booster to see him in person.

“I know we will make you proud. I know we will go far. I believe we will never come back empty-handed from Gombe,” he said, leading to a thunderous applause from his teammates.

The People’s Elephants will face Doma United on Saturday in Gombe, in their second Euromatch NPFL encounter of the season.
