Mosports opened their Nationwide League One campaign with a victory over Future Africa at the Kaduna center, played at Zaria Stadium.
The decisive moment arrived in the 55th minute. John Latif Babatunde threaded a perfectly weighted pass through the Future Africa defense, and Jeremiah Faniwa stayed calm to slot a cool finish past the goalkeeper for 1-0.
Goalkeeper Godwin Simon kept Mosports in control with sharp saves as Future Africa pushed late on. Babatunde, the left back, was outstanding with his overlapping runs and pinpoint crosses throughout, and his assist topped an all-action display. Along with number 9 Jeremiah Faniwa, the trio were outstanding in sealing the win.
After the match, CEO Raymond Moses Udofeh tempered expectations despite the result. “The team is a work in progress because it’s our first time in the third tier league. We will take the games one after the other.”
Udofeh added that the NLO platform is vital for the squad’s growth. “It’s an opportunity for the young boys to get some experience and exposure at that level for their football development at the Mosports project.”
Mosports return to Zaria Stadium on 26th April 2026 when they face Fulfill FC in their next NLO fixture.
