Emmanuel Utake, Nasarawa United’s defender is one of the best and most versatile defenders in the country. Through hardwork, he was noticed and soon joined Nasarawa United where he has continued to blossom and has been on the lips of those who have watched him.
He is a rare breed. He is tough, yet calm and that helps him to play under pressure, make tackles and come out unscathed.
Utake is versatile and can play as a defensive midfielder, a centre back and even an attacking midfielder. Last season, he played 13 games as a defensive midfielder where he posted brilliant performances, protecting the back four with utmost care and becoming a fans’ favourite.
He also showed versatility when he played against Rivers United in Port Harcourt. Because of his football intelligence, he can easily slot into different positions and that is why he has gotten the high number of games in just two years.
This season, he has played 14 games and primarily as a centre back. He is one of the reasons Nasarawa United are strong in defense this season.
Utake was voted man of the match last season in a game against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Abacha. He played as a midfielder and gave an outstanding performance which earned him a vote of the experts.
