Enyimba FC have returned to Aba to lock horns with Nasarawa United in a rescheduled NPFL fixture, tomorrow (Wednesday, January 8) after registering their first win in ten games in all competitions on Sunday.
The People’s Elephants were ruthless against Black Bulls of Mozambique in the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup matchday four played in Uyo, which saw Joseph Atule’s brace, Brown Ideye’s debut goal in CAF club competition and a stunning goal by Ifeanyi Ihemekwele.
The relief from the 4-1 victory by Enyimba FC has ushered in a fresh start for the former NPFL Champions to extend the newly discovered form in front of goal in 2025 to the domestic league.
Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, a ground which has been starved of goals in four straight games, would hope that the Aba landlords would open the floodgates of goals against a struggling Solid Miners, Nasarawa United.
In the last five games both teams played, Enyimba have won two, lost one and drawn two. Both draws played at home.
Nasarawa United, who are bottom of the NPFL table, have done badly away from home.
They would hope the new year changes their misfortunes in away games.
In nine away games played so far, the Solid Miners have lost seven games after the win against Ikorodu City and a draw against Niger Tornadoes.
A win or draw would save the North-central club from the drop zone. But that will be a very difficult task, especially against Enyimba, who are in strong need of the maximum points to rejoin the title contenders.
