Delta Force coach, Mbwas Mangut says playing Enyimba in a pre-season match was a big opportunity for his side. Coach Mangut whose boys lost 1-0 to Enyimba in a thrilling encounter at the Aba stadium spoke to the media shortly after the game.

“It is a warm-up match that we have been looking up to, to cover our lapses that we can correct for the season coming up. It was an opportunity to play with a big team like Enyimba and giving the boys opportunity to showcase what they have.”

He also praised the performance of his boys “Only looking towards the scoreline, you think we are working towards building the team to order before I could start thinking of the result; results count anyway. With due respect to Enyimba, with this kind of performance, it was not too bad.” http://www.bellsnews.com/sports/enyimba-1-0-delta-force-oladapos-stunner-makes-the-difference/

Delta Force produced an improved performance in the second half and were almost rewarded with a goal. Mangut believes his team lost the game in the first half

“We lost in the first half by allowing them build up from the back. In the second half, we had to correct that and forced them to start kicking the ball.”

Coach Mangut thinks that Enyimba needs to add more presence in the attack and get goals if they must make it past Rahimo FC to the next round of the Champions League.

“The team has standard in every department. They are playing in the continent and you know what it is about–the goals count. When you are playing such games, you need to add more presence in the attack because it is about goals difference.”

Delta Force FC lost to 2-0 to Rangers before their narrow loss to Enyimba. Coach Mangut says the results will not affect the psychology of his team as they are trying to integrate new players gleaned from their screening exercise into the main team.

“I was not supposed to expose the team this early. We had just started two or three weeks ago and we are looking at new players. Let them have a feel, let us see how we can assess most of the new players. The conditioning is not even up to that standard. We have to go back and push them to that level, they should put that behind them and work.”

Two players from the open screening exercise conducted by Delta Force got the opportunity to play against Enyimba.
