FC ONE Rockets on Wednesday grabbed their fourth win of the Nigeria National League (NNL) season with a 1-0 triumph over visiting Nnewi United at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Ayuba Francis grabbed the game’s only goal in the 13th minute after a goal mouth scramble inside the Nnewi United box.
Earlier attempts by Rockets in the seventh and 11th minutes through Paschal Onunze and Joshua Daniel all went wide.
The Indomitables did not relent in the push to add a second goal but Abel Abba’s curler in the 26th minute failed to hit the target as the scoreline remained 1-0 into the break.
Kuku Kingsley’s 49th minute attempt and Abel Abba’s 64th minute shot all missed the target.
In the 89th minute, Harrison Ebah forced Nnewi United’s goalie Peter Daniel to a save from the free kick spot while Ayuba Francis’s missed header in the 90th minute brought to an end the attacking play of FC ONE Rockets.
The 1-0 win marked the fourth win of the season for FC ONE Rockets and took the team’s tally to 14 points from 10 games.
Rockets are 6th on the log of the Southern Conference Group B2, though with same number of points as fourth and fifth placed Crown FC and Sporting Lagos FC.
