Human Rights Activist, Deji Has described the court order by the National Industrial Court mandating ASUU to call of the strike as oppressive and vexatious
In a post on his Facebook page, Adeyanju said superior courts have ruled that unions have the right to go on strike in Nigeria
“The court order against ASUU is oppressive and vexatious. There are plethora of cases by superior courts that has declared unions have the right to go on strike in Nigeria. ASUU is fighting for the soul of Nigeria. Everyone must support them.
Pressure should be put on FG to honor the agreement and fund our educational sector and not on ASUU to call off the strike. We have money to waste on useless politicians but can’t fund our tertiary institutions.”
On a lighter note, he advised ASUU on how to bypass the court order
“ASUU should call off the strike, resume lectures for one week then go on another industrial action. They must stand strong until our educational sector is properly funded. ASUU must not go back to dilapidated universities.”
The judgement has elicited mixed reactions on social media, including from the National Association of Nigerian Students who have rejected the ruling
