The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commiserated with Samuel Chukwueze on the death of his mother, Sarah Chukwueze.

The Super Eagles player’s mother died in the early hours of Thursday, 29th January 2026.

The announcement of Mrs Sarah Chukwueze’s passing was made by Princess Chukwueze, Samuel’s sister and David his brother. She passed after a brief illness.

Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the NFF conveyed the football body’s condolences to the family and acknowledged that Mrs Sarah Chukwueze had influence in the lives of her children.

“We are aware that Mrs Sarah Chukwueze was a vital and supportive presence in the lives of her children, including our international player, Samuel Chukwueze. Samuel has always, at every opportunity acknowledged his mother’s influence on his professional development.

“We are sad at her departure, coming only a few days after we had to mourn the sudden passing of the father of Super Eagles’ captain, Wilfred Ndidi,” Sanusi said.

Chukwueze was part of the Super Eagles team which won bronze at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and his mother has always shown public support to the Fulham winger’s career.
