Coal City FC influential Captain Pius Igwe has bemoaned the team’s recent humiliation suffered in Lagos against fellow NNL outfit Smart City FC in the match week 14 of the ongoing Southern Conference A Nigerian National League engagement, citing lack of adequate welfare as the main reason they succumbed to a 4-1 defeat.

Speaking on behalf of the entire team this evening at the club’s base in Enugu during a clarion gathering headed by the team’s pragmatic General Manager Ifeanyi Ekwueme, alongside the officials of the Enugu based outfit, the 20-year-old captain courageously pinpointed “poor welfare” prior to the journey to lagos as the reason the boys could not give a good account of themselves in Lagos.

Reacting to the declaration of the captain, the club’s General Manager, Ifeanyi Ekwueme encouraged the entire team to always strive to live above the challenges encountered in their profession stressing that challenges will always come.

In his routine act of magnanimity, the General Manager, Ifeanyi Ekwueme splashed whooping cash gifts to both the players and club officials as motivation and appreciation having earlier booked a state Federation Cup final spot on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory against familiar foes Giant Brillars FC, thanks to Etete Okon’s 47th minute goal as they look to lock horns with favourites and erstwhile Federation Cup champions, Enugu Rangers FC. The final is billed for March 30th, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.

Next up for a rejuvenated Coal City FC is a match-week 15 Southern Conference A home game fixture against visiting 1472 FC slated for March 23rd at the UNEC stadium Enugu.
