Popular philanthropist and media personality, Emmanuel Okwuluora, has revealed his motivation for the support he has given to Enyimba FC in recent times.
Okwuluora was at the Enyimba Stadium on Thursday in a Novelty game hosted by Kanu Heart Foundation, to celebrate this year’s World Heart Day. Kanu Nwankwo and his friends, including former Enyimba and Super Eagles players like Finidi George, Tijani Babangida and Obinna Nwanneri played the game.
The media personality had given Enyimba dinner in Enugu and he says he loves the club so much.
“I started supporting Enyimba since 2002. A year after then they won the Champions League. Enyimba is the biggest club in Nigeria and also in West Africa. Somebody talked about Africa Football League. Enyimba is the only team representing this part of Africa.
I love this team so much that is why I asked the management two days ago to grant me the rare privilege to have them on exclusive dinner and it was granted. I told them that when they will play Rangers away in the league, it will be a carnival in Enugu. I love this team so much.
And my boss, eventually the new Chairman of Enyimba. A man I adore so much, Finidi George, the coach. Ekwueme, the Sporting Director and my boss as well. So, everything about me is Enyimba now. Some Enugu Rangers fans are getting jealous but it is what it is.”
When asked which of the clubs he would choose, between Enyimba and Rangers, he was diplomatic.
“There is a strike in balance. Don’t allow anybody to beat me up (laughter) I love Rangers and I love Enyimba.”
Okwuluora has been in Aba in since Sunday and has received tremendous support and adulation since then. For him, the reception in Aba is the first of its kind.
“I have been to UK, I have been everywhere, cities, I have never had half of the reception I had in Abia State. I told them I think four days before I came. I don’t know how they planned it but I will live to remember that day.”
He also revealed his next project in Abia and also his partnership with the Government.
“We are going on University tour. The last time we went to IMT, management said that since the history of IMT, nobody has ever had that amount of people. And I am sure that before December, we are going to come to Abia Poly. The same thing we did in IMT, we are go to do in Abia Poly.
Next thing I am doing is to come to Abia Poly. We are going to elevate people from scratch to zenith. After that, more things are going to come.”
He praised the Government of Dr. Alex Otti for partnering with him and expressed satisfaction with what the Governor has done in the state so far since assuming office.
“It is what we have been praying for. Government seeing what a young guy is doing and say they want to parner with him. I am very happy and pleased with the Government of Governor Alex Otti.”
