The Falconets will now play their U20 world cup qualifier against Senegal at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta instead of the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

This is after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the request by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for a change of venue for the third round encounter scheduled for Saturday, 7th February 2026.

Ruth David, NFF’s Director of Competitions explained that the football requested for a change of venue due to the deteriorating state of the pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium. The pitch hosted the Falconets’ second round clash with Rwanda in September 2025.

The team will now relocate from Ibadan where they have been since Tuesday to Abeokuta in order to familiarize themselves with the turf.

The winner of the two-legged tie will play against the winner of the Guinea Bissau/Malawi fixture in the fourth round for a place at the World Cup in Poland from 5-27 September 2026.
