The Media Adviser to the Prince Paul Ikonne Foundation, Mr. Moses Orji has described the Enyimbapedia quiz competition as part of the foundation’s commitment to educational advancement and youth development.

He spoke shortly after the grand finale of the second edition of Enyimbapedia. The competition was organized by the Prince Paul Ikonne Foundation. Mr Orji said it was part of a vision Prince Ikonne has nurtured for years, to make a huge impact on education.

“This is not a public relations stunt, it is a continuation of a vision Prince Paul Ikonne has nurtured for years, Our goal is to revive interest in core subjects like mathematics, which is foundational to global competitiveness in science, technology, and engineering” Orji stated

He said the foundation decided to do a mathematics competition because of its importance and said: “mathematics is a jealous lover. If you leave it, it leaves you too.”

Mr Orji further revealed that the foundation will expand its scope to accommodate other educational activities which include Bible quizzes and literacy-based contests. Currently, the body organises a radio debate aired across Enyimba 94.3 FM, Legend 98.3 FM and Rose FM, 101.9 FM Aba; a three-in-one radio station in Aba.

On the absence of public schools in the quiz, he said that public schools were formally invited through different channels but none of them submitted entries. He attributed their failure to make appearance in the competition to lack of adequate infrastructure and motivation from the government.

“When teachers pass promotional exams but are denied advancement, and when minimum wages go unpaid amid inflation, it sends the wrong signal, It’s no surprise they cannot afford the extra commitment required to prepare students for such competitions,” he said.

“We are not here to criticise for criticism’s sake. We are open to working with the government to improve the educational landscape, no one can actually change the narrative in our government owned schools without partnering with the government. The goal is simple: every child deserves a chance, whether from a private school or a public one,” He added.

The second edition of the Enyimbapedia competition came to its grand climax on Monday, July 21, 2025 and Deeper life High School (Aba Campus) won the competition, scoring 30 points after answering all questions correctly to clinch the top prize of ₦1 million, followed by Divine International School who got 20 points with ₦500,000 cash prize, and Christ the King Cathedral in third place with just 18 points earning ₦250,000.
